What is Renuvion powered by J-Plasma® Skin Resurfacing?

This amazing skin rejuvenation treatment is revolutionizing the medical aesthetics industry. This minimally invasive outpatient procedure utilizes a wand that spreads cold plasma energy (ionized energy) over the skin. You may have seen plasma energy in things like lightning or neon signs. Renuvion is a technology based on plasma energy, which is why it is also referred to as J Plasma®.

When sufficient energy is added to a gas, ionized gas is created. This ionized state of the gas is known as plasma.

J Plasma is a highly advanced form of gas that has been specifically engineered for precision use in surgical and cosmetic treatments. Renuvion powered by J Plasma® is an advanced energy device that combines cold helium plasma with Radio Frequency (RF) energy. The Helium plasma focuses RF energy for greater control of tissue effect, enabling an extreme level of precision and virtually eliminating unintended tissue trauma. Does it hurt?

The Renuvion treatment itself is painless. The entire face receives nerve blocks and tumescent solution (a numbing solution) under the skin prior to treatment, causing the entire face to be numb. A combination of oral medications is given to make you sleepy, as well as the option of using nitrous oxide (“laughing gas”). The same numbing solution is also used for subcutaneous treatments such as the neck. After treatment, patients report some heat in the area for about one day.

What Can I Expect After My J-Plasma® Treatment?

Patients can expect to have redness and swelling immediately following the treatment. The swelling diminishes in a few days to a week while the redness may linger for a couple of weeks to several months before fading. Dr. Iannitelli also uses red light treatments to help speed the healing process as well as offering medical grade make up for full coverage to cover any temporary skin unevenness. Your healing time and aftercare will depend on the depth and focus of your treatment. Once the redness fades, the results become much more visible to reveal a younger, more radiant appearance.

How Much Will My J-Plasma® Treatment Cost?

The cost of J-Plasma® varies with each patient as it depends on the extent of the area to be treated, the number of treatments needed, and whether it is combined with other treatments. The average patient usually needs 1-2 treatments which will last 3-5 years as natural aging occurs. You can compare this to older technologies requiring 3-6 treatments with continuous touch-ups every 6 months to a year.
